Luneta

As observações astronômicas eram principal-
mente realizadas nos três telescópios refratores
de montagem equatorial, usualmente referi-
dos como Luneta 21, Luneta 32 e Luneta 46,
respectivamente.
A Luneta 21, assim chamada por uma apro-
ximação do diâmetro de sua lente objetiva
(precisamente 8 polegadas, igual a 20,32 cm),
foi adquirida em 1910, quando o Observatório
ainda se encontrava no Morro do Castelo.

Durante quase 60 anos, essa luneta, com
recursos de fotografia, foi utilizada para obser-
vação de diversos cometas, planetas, estre-
las variáveis, ocultações de estrelas e medidas
micrométricas de estrelas duplas.
